Beginning Monday December 6, the Operator ID field will be viewable for electronically-executed trades on the Trade Detail screen of the Front-End Clearing (FEC) browser-based user interface. Also, the Operator ID field will be provided on TREX
Change confirm messages for these trades as well as on Add confirm messages.
This will apply to trades in CBOT products executed on e-cbot, trades in CME products executed on GLOBEX, and trades in OneChicago
products for which orders were routed to OneChicago through GLOBEX. For orders routed to GLOBEX via iLink, the Operator ID
field contains the value from FIX tag 50.
We are making this change so that firms can easily review the Operator ID associated with a particular electronic trade. In recent years, this field has become increasingly important - for fees, and for determining the correct CTI (customer
type indicator) code. In the coming months, we plan to make two additional improvements in this area. First, when an electronic
trade is given up, the Operator ID will flow along with the giveup, so that the carrying firm will be able to identify the
Operator ID on the original execution. Second, the Operator ID will be provided on the Trade Register file for firms to use
for reconciliation purposes.
To view the Operator ID, simply click on the trade ID of the desired trade on the Trade List screen, to display the Trade
Detail screen. Also on the Trade Detail screen, the caption for the field formerly provided as "Broker" has been renamed
to "Trader" and a new "Broker" field has been added. The Trader field will contain the full four-byte FIX ID - for example, 3Z2K. The Broker field will contain the 3-byte truncation of this value - for example, 3Z2.
There is only one systems impact associated with this change. Currently, when firms receive "Add" TREX confirm messages for new electronic trades, the Operator ID is provided on the
A4 block of the TREX message, in bytes 48-63. However, this field is not currently provided on "Change" confirm messages
for these trades generated when the firm changes the account, origin or CTI. Beginning Monday, November 22, the Operator ID field will be provided on Change confirm messages for these trades as well
as on Add confirm messages.
Please note that the four-byte FIX ID (the "Trader ID") is currently provided in bytes 31-35 of the TREX message A4 block,
and the three-byte truncation of this value is currently provided in the Executing Broker field (bytes 45-49) of the main
block. There will be no change to this behavior.
Firms wishing to test this change may do so either on Tuesday November 23rd or Wednesday December 1st, in the Firm End-To-End Testing environment. For firms who request this, we will take a small number of electronic trades
from production for the prior business day, and load them into the End-To-End Testing environment. Firms would receive normal
"Add" confirm messages, will be able to view them via the user interface, will be able to change them via the user interface
or via TREX message, and then will receive TREX "Change" confirm messages containing the Operator ID.
To participate in this test, or for further information, please contact the Clearing House at (312) 207-2525. To participate on Tuesday November 23rd, please contact us no later than this Friday. To participate on Wednesday Decemeber
1st, please contact us no later than Monday November 29th.
